One day I'll be able to get through an entire performance without blowing a verse or dropping my pick. Then maybe I'll have a roadie and a teleprompter.

1/9/06

If anyone's keeping up w/this blog:
I've rejoined Wayside Riders after a 10-month hiatus. 'Twas actually a full-on resignation (running for my life), but now turns out to be a "break". I was replaced by Tony Scott (a friend of Robert's, and a great guy); Preston (drums) left last summer, replaced by Scotty Philips; Romin (guitar) took a hiatus of his own, only playing a few gigs through the end of summer and fall, and was finally relieved of his position in October. I'd told Lefty and Robert that I wanted to come back if Romin was gone, but had to wait and see what Tony was doing. He took a restaurant manager job in Phoenix, and I got the call to return.
Open mic performances will be fewer and farther between, but I hope to add some solo gigs, and back out of the restaurant biz. I found out that music is the only thing I'm any good at, and the only thing I'm passionate about. I guess I knew it all along, but my break from the band and the subsequent selling of my soul to the restaurant really drove it home.
Most blog-type entries will be posted at myspace.com/andylester, but I'll continue to post solo setlists here.
Holla!
